7 Steps to Optimal Health

Keeping healthy doesn't have to be a chore, for me it's a lifestyle. Simple practices that I get to implement into my days as my non negotiables to improve my overall health and wellbeing. It's about making the choice daily to make me and my health a priority. Here are my top 7 tips for optimal health.

1. Move your body.

Do something you enjoy- walk, run, dance, yoga, online classes. Find what you enjoy and do that, minimum 20min a day. Exercise and movement releases our feel good hormones - serotonin which helps boost your mood and  immune system.

2. Stop and breathe.

Take 10 deep belly breaths, this will also help your body switch from a stress to calmer state.

3. Get adequate sleep.

Sleep allows our body to rest and repair (especially if you are someone experiencing prolonged periods of stress). Adults aim for 8 hours, kids need 9-10 hours. When we are tired and sleep deprived our cortisol levels in the body rise and can affect our immune system, causing it to weaken.

4. Nourish your body with vegetables.

To make this really easy fill ½ your plate with salad or vegetables for each meal. Aim to avoid processed foods and excessive alcohol as these all can affect your immune system when over consumed.

5. Get some vitamin D.

Vitamin D not only boosts your immune system but also helps keep your bones strong. Aim for 10min a day outside.

6. Nourish and grow the relationships in your life.

One of the 7 core human needs is connection, while we may not be able to see friends and family, call and check in on your loved ones.

7. Have an attitude of gratitude.

What we focus on we attract, yes as much as this current environment is not ideal, it could always be worse. Focus daily on 3x things that are good in your life currently.

Love to hear which one of these are you practicing daily?
